Olivier Bonenfant

Chairperson

Quebecois Australian Olivier Bonenfant is a writer, director, editor and motion graphics artist who has around a hundred short films under his belt (but still won’t commit to a feature film). He had the chance to create, and screen, these works in Canada, the USA, France, Belgium, Russia, Sweden and Madagascar as part of the Kino Movement but his passion for the short form extends way beyond his own work, having been the Monthly screenings event director at Kino Montreal between 2010-2013 and co-organiser at Filmonik Melbourne since 2015, as well as a judge for other film festivals. He has taken the lead on promo materials for Filmonik, with monthly artworks, occasional trailers, idents and collective projects and the yearly kabaret wrap up videos. Being busy with a toddler these days, he is now focusing on letting new voices emerge and grow at Filmonik and beyond. Otherwise, Olivier has been a TV Director for the 3rd biggest broadcaster in Quebec, a VFX Artist on feature films and for Ubisoft Montreal, and a Motion Graphics Artist for TV and advertising companies.

Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we stand: Naarm; the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present. Storytelling has been a part of this Country for more than 60,000 years, and we are honoured to continue creating and sharing new Melbourne made stories in cinematic form.
