Join a group of ecstatic filmmakers premiering the short films they’ve made collaboratively, chaotically, in the last 72h during Session #2 of the Filmonik Melbourne Kabaret 2021. Many filmmakers had only 48 hour or 72 hours to execute their vision and will be editing up to just a few hours before screening while others were lucky enough to start earlier in the week. Expect under-5-minute comedies, drama, suspense, some stop-motion, docos maybe, experimental stuff, trashy goodness and action. Short QA after the films give insight into the production.
Arrive at 6pm or even earlier and find the Filmonik group cluster in the lobby at Hoyts Highpoint. We’ll let people in to Cinema 10 when we’re ready and short films should start at 6:20pm. If you’re already a Kabaret participant bring your Filmonik slap bracelet. Online tickets ONLY.
Access Hoyts Highpoint from Warrs Rd. Enter “HOYTS parking Highpoint” for navigation to the right entrance. PT options include Buses 215, 223, 406-409 and 468 and Route 82 Tram.
The Filmonik Kabaret is our yearly event, an all-you-can-film buffet of creativity where everyone collaborate on as many films as they can in a shared production space called the Kinolab at Siteworks. Chaotic magic happened until the first screening. Then, a second session of filmmaking starts on the next day. It’s a celebration of film, not a competition. No creative restrictions, no set teams.
