Filmonik Melbourne #3

3Filmonik Melbourne, the city’s new open-mic film night, is back for ‘Screening #3‘ on Monday 29th July at Bella Union.

Join us as Melbourne filmmakers channel their burning creativity into madcap, experimental, energetic and straight-up conventional shorts. Every film is a premiere, every filmmaker is on hand, every drink is tastier than the last, every conversation could be the start of something new.

Entry is only $5, includes short films, live entertainment, dancing, food, prizes and networking.

Cheer on the freshest of films, listen to uncompromising Q&As, chat with filmmakers (and films buffs, and cosplay geeks, and artists, and people who think outside the screen), listen to groovy tunes, pick up a beer at the bar, and slurp on soup.

Guess who!

Guess who is going to play a set at Filmonik ‘Take 2’ on the 24th of June? The marvelous Jehan: http://www.facebook.com/jehanmusic?fref=ts

Jehan is a Melbourne based musician originally from Sydney. His first release, “Shooting Ships and Sinking Stars”, received national airplay around Australia (Triple J, RRR, FBi and more) and he is currently recording his second EP, “Farewell Misery (You Were So Good To Me)”. While his first studio album was a catch blend of folk and fingerpicking, his sophomore record delves into a more ambient, post-rock sound. Jehan is a warm, generous, and funny performer. Filmonik is very excited to have him play, and we’re sure you’ll love him too!

Call For Short Films

DSC_0303Filmonik Melbourne is calling for short films for its inaugural screening on Monday the 27th of May. Filmonik Melbourne is the city’s only open-mic film night with brand new short films, live performances, networking and popcorn.

Being open-mic, there is no pre-selection or competition – the screening is open to all films of all genres and styles, from first time filmmakers to professionals. We believe in collaboration, learning from each other, and getting out there and making new films. In other words, shoot first, ask questions later.

Filmonik Melbourne only asks that films be under five minutes, be publicly screened for the first time on the night and include the Filmonik logo in the credits.

Register a short film now at [email protected] – spots are limited.
